The STEM Ambassadors program exists to empower youth to serve their community
and to make STEM education more accessible. We acknowledge the growing learning
disparity in STEM education and seek to close the gap by training youth 14+ years old
to be the facilitators of STEM learning in multiple community spaces. In facilitating
diverse lessons, we not only want our STEM Ambassadors to be leaders in their
spaces, but to take ownership of their own learning and what they perceive to be the
best practices for the communities they serve.
The STEM Ambassador program takes a holistic approach to learning and our lessons
are accessible and approachable. Our Ambassadors are trained in the process of
learning, positive behavior enforcement, and culturally relevant practices. This makes
STEM easy to introduce to youth who may not have any experience in the subject. Our
goal is to promote problem-solving skills, innovation and collaboration in the youth we
serve. In making STEM accessible, we are simultaneously empowering the next
generation of adults to become leaders and directly impact the communities they are a
part of. Ambassadors will walk away from the program with confidence, stronger
workforce skills, and the competence to adapt to differences with empathy.
- Make STEM education accessible in underserved communities
- Facilitate a holistic approach to learning
- Train and encourage youth to understand their power and impact
- Support community partners in the Pittsburgh and Greater Pittsburgh Area
- Provide a work opportunity to young members of the community
- Build the foundational workforce skills and ethic of young professionals

We believe that all students deserve access to programs that help them decide if theirs is a future in computer science. No one should have that decision dictated to them by their circumstances.
CS Pathways exists to achieve that goal: To develop programs and initiatives that create computer science opportunities for all students, from all backgrounds.
